Route and Highlights -- Interactive Map Traces PixTraveler's 25 Day 2014 Mediterrain Cruise
This is the story of our the entire 25 day cruise. The highlights of the trip were visits to beautiful Dubonik, Croatia, the ruins of ancient Pompeii, Italy, and the utterly beautiful Alhambra in Spain. We had an unexpected experience when on Day 6 we stopped to help rescue a boat dead in the water with refugees from the Syrian conflict. You can follow that incident by clicking on minute 8:50 in the guided tour. Zoom out the map to see how far they had come from the mid-east. Fortunately, the seas were calm, but if there had been a storm their overloaded small boat would surely have been lost. War and hunger still remain humanities greatest challenges. We were all disappointed when, at minute 12:48 in tour, the captain decided to skip our stop in Livorno, Italy due to high winds. Toward the end of the trip, at minute 31:09 in the tour, the captain diverted from our planned route to take a critically ill passenger for medical care in Bermuda. Otherwise, the entire trip was a delightful experience. I hope you enjoy the highlight photos in the album and the slideshow.
