Trip to Cambridge, MD, Home of Harriett Tubman, Conductor on the Underground Railroad

Our trip was sponsored by Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD. It was part of FCC's Institute for Learning In Retirement program. It took place on Wednesday November 13, 2013. It was a visit to Cambridge, MD, home of Harriett Tubman, Conductor on the Underground Railroad. The itinerary included a stops at the Harriett Tubman museum, the "Stanley Institute", the oldest community owned one room school house in Dorchester County, a nearby country church, and a restored country store where Harriet Tubman acted to protect an accused runaway slave.

Guided Tour Click or tap in the Guided Tour list to start an animated Google Earth Virtual Tour at a point of interest. Google Earth flies over the track and, as you fly over photos, it pauses, zooms in, and opens a thumbnail. You control the Tour like a video player pausing wherever you want.
Slideshow Click or tap on the Slideshow button to view pictures without showing a map. This allows you to view the pictures even if you are using browser that does not support Google Earth maps.
Google Earth Application Click or tap on the Google Earth link to download the Google Earth map file. You can configure your browser to automatically open the Google Earth application. In the application, you can take a Virtual Tour, view photos, run the Slideshow, and access many more features.

[0:30] On the road to Cambridge we take I70 east, south on MD 100 at Ellicot City, and south on REt.2 east of Annapolis.
[1:50] Continue south on Rt. 50 passing through Cape St. Clarie
[1:58] Crossing the Chesapeak Bay Bridge I take a few pictures from the bus

[3:28] Arriving early we take a short bus ride through Cambridge
[5:09] We stop for a few minutes near the Choptank River Lighthouse and the Cambridge Fountin
[6:13] We walk a block down Race St. to the Harriet Tubman Museum
[7:35] We have lunch at the nearby Jimmie & Sooks Resturant
[7:54] Back on the bus we head for our next stop.
[8:39] At the "Stanley Institute", the oldest community owned one room school house in Dorchester County and a nearby country church.
